gE.CO tools presented at Aarhus Convention side event

New Toolkits gaining traction!

Exciting new toolkits are being prepared by the Generative Commons Living Lab. Our partners are hard at work, creating and finalizing tools that will assist commons initiatives in providing frameworks, references, assistance and suggestions.

More on the Aarhus convention

We were extremely excited to be approached by the event organizers to present the project and the tools we’ve been working on, to a wider audience.

The Aarhus Convention is a significant and new kind of environmental agreement. The Convention:

• Links environmental rights and human rights
• Acknowledges that we owe an obligation to future generations
• Establishes that sustainable development can be achieved only through the involvement of all stakeholders
• Links government accountability and environmental protection
• Focuses on interactions between the public and public authorities in a democratic context.

Side event: Environmental democracy & sustainable spatial planning

As part of the Aarhus convention side event on Environmental democracy and sustainable spatial planning, the gE.CO project presented the new tools being developed; following a brief introduction on the project and the Database, Map and Toolbox.

The presentation provided pertinent information to municipalities and planners while promoting commons concepts and our work and research, to a wider audience.

Eutropian’s Yilmaz Vurucu outlined and provided in-depth information in regards to their purpose and use (video to be uploaded next week, so stay tuned!). The participation, Temporary Use, Governance and Legal Toolkit received quite the interest and the public (comunities of citizens) as well as those active in generating urban voids are looking forward to their release!
